政府は22日、物価高対策を検討する「物価・賃金・生活総合対策本部」会合を首相官邸で開催し、2兆円を超える追加対策を決定した。これには、低所得世帯への現金給付や、地方で使用されるLPガスの料金削減が含まれている。また、地方創生臨時交付金に新たな枠が設けられることとなった。2022年度予算の予備費を利用した一連の対策がまとめられた。
岸田文雄首相はウクライナ訪問のため欠席し、松野博一官房長官が会合に出席。「年度内に新型コロナウイルス対策と合わせて2兆円超の予備費を措置する」と発表した。
追加対策として、地方創生臨時交付金に新たに5000億円の「低所得世帯支援枠」を設け、住民税非課税世帯を対象に3万円を目安に支援を行う。具体的な支援策や金額は、各自治体で決定される。
また、国費で児童扶養手当を受けている低所得のひとり親世帯や住民税非課税の子育て世帯に対して、子ども1人当たり5万円が支給される。
物価高騰対策として、臨時交付金の枠も7000億円増額されることになった。

など一時的な給付で解決しないとの意見や、中間層世帯への支援がなく公平でないとの批判が寄せられている。また、政治家が目先の選挙対策に税金を使っていることに対する不満も見られる。
