日本時間の21日午前9時20分過ぎ（現地時間の午前1時20分過ぎ）、ポーランド南東部のウクライナとの国境の町プシェミシルの駅で列車に乗り込む岸田総理の映像が公開されました。彼は黒塗りの車から降り、現地の警護隊員とともに列車に乗り込みました。
岸田総理を乗せた列車は首都キーウへ向かっており、ゼレンスキー大統領との会談が予想されます。

インドのニューデリーを訪問中だった岸田総理は、情報を一切公開せず、チャーター機を利用してポーランド南東部ジェシュフの空港に到着しました。
岸田総理はこれまでウクライナ訪問を検討していましたが、安全上の理由などで環境が整わず、実現していませんでした。
5月のG7広島サミットで議長を務める岸田総理は、ロシアへの制裁継続やウクライナへの支援継続の必要性を確認する意向で、サミット前の訪問を決行しました。
