Metaが2023年2月に発表した有料プラン「Meta Verified」が、FacebookおよびInstagramのアカウントに認証バッジを提供するもので、アメリカでサービスが開始されました。ウェブ版は月額11.99ドル（約1600円）、モバイル版は月額14.99ドル（約2000円）で、認証バッジが取得できます。
2023年3月17日(金)に、MetaのCEOマーク・ザッカーバーグがInstagramのMeta Channelでアメリカでのサービス開始を発表しました。
Meta Verifiedはアメリカに住むInstagramおよびFacebookユーザーであれば利用でき、ウェイティングリストに参加することで早期利用が可能です。ただし、利用には月額料金のほか、18歳以上であることが必要です。
また、Meta Verified利用のためには、政府発行の写真付き身分証明書を提出し、アカウントに2段階認証を設定する必要があります。認証後、プロフィール名・写真・ユーザー名・生年月日の変更が制限されます。
Meta VerifiedにはFacebookやInstagramのストーリーやリールで使える限定ステッカーが付属し、配信サービスであるFacebookライブで使える投げ銭の毎月100個のFacebookスターを獲得できます。
オーストラリアとニュージーランドでの初期テストから「良い結果」が得られており、既に一部のフィードバックが反映されているとのこと。また、Metaはサービスのわかりづらさに対するフィードバックを受け、他国への展開前にさらなる調査を行う予定です。
これまでMetaはほとんどのサービスで顧客から料金を徴収しない選択をしてきましたが、状況は変化しているようです。
